Robogals Science Challenge

The competition challenges girls to create one or more science projects, submit photos (for minor projects) and a short ‘show and tell’ video (for major project) of their discoveries.

The competition consists of two parts: the Minor Challenges and the Major Challenge.

The Minor Challenges are the initial part of the competition where participants have the option of undertaking mini-experiments, which will be released on the competition website (link below). These mini-experiments will introduce girls to a wide range of engineering andscience fields and act as a 'warm up' to the Major Challenge.

The Major Challenge is the final part of the competition, which will be judged, where participants create their own experiment and submit a short video to show their findings.  This major challenge can build on a project conducted earlier or be from the participant's favourite engineering or science related field.

The competition is open to girls aged between 5 and 15 years. Participants have the option of entering as an individual or a team of two, accompanied by a mentor who is above 18 years.

The competition is divided into 3 age groups and will be judged accordingly. Participants' Major Challenge entries will be judged by peers as well as science celebrity judges on the basis of their creativity, enthusiasm and understanding of their project.

Registration is free and opens 3rd June, 2013 at

The first set of Minor Challenges will also be released on this date.

We look forward to your involvement!
